He goes to Jens house to see what happened, Jens dad told him she is dead with the others. Jens dad offers him a fake i.d. and Luke accepts. This book is written by Margaret Peterson haddix.Margaret Peterson Haddix was born near Washington Courthouse, Ohio. Her former occupation, for several years, was as a reporter for the Indianapolis News. She also taught at Danville Area Community College, in Danville Illinois. She has written Running out of Time, Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey, Leaving Fisher, Among the Hidden, Among the Impostors, Among the Betrayed, and Take Offs and Landings. She also published The Girl with 500 Middle Names, and Because of Anya. She has also written Fine. Her current residence is in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. She is married and has two children, Connor and Meredith.
Her next three novels were all chosen as ALA Best Books for Young Adults, a remarkable record for a new author. Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey grew out of another newspaper assignment, one for which Haddix had talked to more than a dozen neglected and abused young people. Their stories remained with her and became embodied in Tish, an angry, tough-talking, and deeply frightened teen, trying to hold her life together in spite of parental neglect. This book was also an IRA Children's Book Award Winner and a Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers. Leaving Fishers was cited as a New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age and an ABA Pick of the Lists. Among the Hidden was among the Top Ten of ALA's Best Books for Young Adults.
Given that mix of influences--science fiction and family history--it's no wonder I can't seem to write books that are easily categorized. I thought this book was a very unhappy story "its people like you who change history people like me we just let things happen to us". Luke said. I recommend this book to anybody who wants read about this young boy's life
